What is Raptors for Research?
Raptors for Research is Canada’s premier 3 on 3 basketball tournament held in partnership with the Toronto Raptors. Teams are required to reach a minimum fundraising goal of $2,500 in order to play, and 100% of funds raised supports Sinai Health’s Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI). People of all skill levels who are over the age of 16 at the time of the event are welcome.
What is the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI)?
The LTRI is ranked in the top one percent globally for molecular and biological research, with a track record of pioneering discoveries and game-changing medical advances.
LTRI research breakthroughs, such as the discovery of two new classes of drugs for diabetes, ultimately contribute to the health and well-being of people globally. Read more about the LTRI.

REGISTRATION
Can I register if I don’t have a team?
All participants must be joining or creating a team of 3-6 players. No free agents.
What are the requirements to register?
The co-ed 3 on 3 tournament is open to players of all genders and skill levels, 16 years and up.
Each player must pay a $50 registration fee, and participating teams are required to meet a $2,500 fundraising minimum.
Players must create or join a team. No free agents.
Do I need to have basketball experience to register?
No basketball experience required! The tournament will be divided by skill level (beginner, intermediate, expert), and teams will play against the appropriate opponents.
GAME DAY
How many teams will be participating in the tournament?
There will be a maximum of 96 teams in the tournament.
Can I invite my family and friends to watch the tournament?
Yes, we will be selling tickets for event day spectators. More details to follow.
Will there be parking on site?
Yes, free parking is available on-site at Trio Sportsplex.

What if my team doesn’t raise $2,500?
If your team doesn’t raise $2,500 by March 3, 2023, the team organizer/captain will automatically be charged the remaining balance.
Is my $50 registration fee counted toward the $2,500 goal?
No. Your registration fee covers your entrance into the tournament only. The $2,500+ your team fundraises in lead up to the event will directly support game-changing biomedical research at Sinai Health’s LTRI.
Will there be incentives for the individuals and teams that raise the most money?
Yes! Individuals and teams who raise more than the minimum $2,500 will be rewarded with coveted incentives such as swag, game-day benefits, exclusive Raptors for Research merch and experiences, and more.
Plus, the top two fundraising teams and the top two game day teams will have the chance to go head-to-head in the finals on the Raptors Practice Court at the OVO Athletic Centre.
